The new-look Online Breastfeeding Cafe is now responsive across mobile, tablet and computer. The new easy-to read design loads quickly. The home page is full of pics and icons to make your search even easier. We can even save you the hassle of navigating the menu: you can just glance through the home page on your mobile device and find exactly what you need. If you’re so inclined, the fresh new drop down menu is simple and makes navigation a breeze.
No matter what your language, the OBC is about accessibility and diversity. We have a just the thing for you, in a language you need. You can choose from a basic Breastfeeding Confidence e-flyer to a full colour booklet with English/Other Language side-by-side translations on How Breastfeeding Works. Now that’s comprehensive!
Whether you need some quick resources for a client who doesn’t speak English, or some more in depth information, we have many things on the site to grab your interest, and even a special section for health professionals under the ‘Resources’ tab in the top menu.
The best thing about the Online Breastfeeding Cafe (OBC) is who’s behind it – 50 years of trustworthy Australian Breastfeeding Association knowledge and experience.
The Online Breastfeeding Café (OBC) was begun by the volunteers of the Australian Breastfeeding Association and brings together over 50 years of experience as Australia’s leading experts on breastfeeding .The ABA comes recommended by government, health experts, lactation consultants, doctors, midwives and hospitals.
We’ve done an Australian first – a section on a breastfeeding website especially for Dads! Here you can find some great articles, go a bit deeper with some Dad-reflection or hop over to the Dads & Partners section of the ABA forums!
We have designed this site for you, and made it easy to find what you need.
So, whether you’re a new mum, young mum, non-English speaking mum, or a dad we can help you access the important stuff.
The Online Breastfeeding Café is run by the Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA) NSW Branch. ABA is one of Australia’s largest volunteer women’s associations, and is a registered charity.
This project exists thanks to grants and funding NSW Health. The grant for the original version of the OBC came from the Ian Potter Foundation. We voluntarily abide by the World Health Organisation (WHO) code with regard to breastfeeding information. Our internationally-recognised expertise is a key source for governments and health professionals, as well as the thousands of families we help every year. We also abide by the Australian Breastfeeding Association’s Code of Ethics in all information we supply.
The idea for this web site was born in as a ‘different coloured door’ for people to receive help from the Australian Breastfeeding Association. We wanted to build a community that was defined by new user groups, but which had the world-renowned expertise of the ABA at their fingertips. The Online Breastfeeding Café was born.
